Fethiye: Tuesday market

Fethiye (23 August 2011) – Not even a heat index that reaches 34 degrees could stop the big market that takes place every Tuesday in Fethiye, a city in the south-western corner of Turkey. This market is very popular and you can see a lot of tourists mixed with the local people.

The “vegetarian” part of the market is extremely colorful, with thousands of different fragrances. This is the area where you won’t see so many foreigner, but only people who are really interested in shopping and who, like me, just wants to annoy, pointing the lens in the face of the unlucky traders.

I have already been several times in Fethiye, and I remembered this place exactly like this, a piece of heaven, from my point of view: heat wave, boiling sea water, the usual tourist’ trinkets, but with “human” prices, if I consider what it means being a tourist in Italy, for instance.

Unfortunately, I won’t stay here too long, I’m just passing by, and I’m looking with envy all the tourists who have to get by from a daily trip to the 12 islands and an excursion to the Butterfly Valley. Not to mention the wonderful Marina, with many sailing boats, which will always have a special place in my heart.

I don’t know if I have to say goodbye forever to this place or whether, as always, I will come back again. But in the meantime I want to remember Fethiye in this way.
